Del Taco Returns to the Houston Area

HOUSTON - The first of 40 Del Taco restaurants planned for construction in the Houston area will open to the public Wednesday, decades after the restaurant chain left the Houston-area market.

Del Taco will open on Westheimer Road near Fondren Road in southwest Houston and will be operated by a franchisee that is expected to open two more locations in the area.

"Del Taco is a well known concept and we have long appreciated Del Taco's fresh taste and high quality food. We believe that consumers prefer fresh, made to order food over the alternatives. We expect Del Taco's great taste, menu variety and positive customer experience to be well received in Houston," said Manny Patel, Operations Manager in RPM Hospitality LLC.

Unlike other popular taco-based fast-food restaurant concepts, Del Taco will also offer breakfast items, burgers, fries and milkshakes. Many locations will also feature 24-hour drive-through service, according to a statement released Tuesday.

There are already seven Del Taco restaurants in north Texas including Dallas, Denton, Hurst, McKinney, Plano and Watauga.
